Review: Nivea Extra White Firming Body Serum

I don't usually put lotion when it's sunny because I hate the greasy feeling when I sweat. However, I walk a mile before I reach my work place which makes me to decide to apply lotion with SPF. I was using Nivea Extra Whitening Cell Repair & Protect body milk for a long while but I did not notice that it does not have SPF. It made me to decide to switch to a lotion with sun protection.

While strolling, I saw Nivea Extra White Firming Body Serum. It has SPF33, PA+++, UVA1, UVA2 and UVB. You already know that if the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) is higher, the user is more protected. Now, let me tell you that SPF is only the measure of protection against UVB rays. UVB rays are usually the reason that makes our skin to get dark when we are exposed to the sun. However, UVA does not show any indication of harm to the skin but same like UVB, it also damage collagen fibers. It’s a good thing that this Nivea Extra White Firming Body Serum covers both UVA and UVB protection.

It also contains vitamin C and Q10. Camu camu is a super fruit that is high in vitamin C that helps to boost skin whitening while Q10, an antioxidant, boosts skin repair and reduces free radicals damage. Serum, as compare to lotion, has more concentrated formula than lotion. It is a perfect combination for skin care, isn’t?

Comparing to the usual Nivea lotions that comes in a bottle, the packaging of the Extra White Firming Body Serum comes in a squeezable tube. I got mine a 200 ml tube for P295. It’s a white creamy liquid in a floral scent that is thicker than the lotion. It feels sticky at first but when it sets in, you can feel that it already penetrated to the skin because the sticky feeling disappears.

Would I recommend it? Yes! You can feel that your skin is softer after applying. However, its main highlight that says, EXTRA WHITE, did not take effect on me. I just think that the color of my skin is still the same. So, I am recommending this despite of its whitening fail because it has more beneficial points to the skin like firming and sun protection which you cannot find in other brands. It’s good for daily use for people who get exposed to the sun for a short time. On the contrary, if your work requires longer sun exposure, I would still recommend an SPF and PA+++ lotion like Banana Boat, Beach Hut and among others.

Review: Holika Holika Clearing Petit BB Cream

I always include BB cream on my daily makeup as it stands as a foundation to my face and a protection to UV rays. I bought Holika Holika Clearing Petit BB Cream because it only comes in 30 ml and also it is cheaper among the known Korean brands. It has an SPF 30 so it's already a steal for only P325. It is a practical way to try it first in a smaller tube before investing into bigger ones, right?
Holika Holika Clearing Petit BB Cream

There are varieties of Holika Holika BB Creams. Each color represents each type, so it's easy to know which product should you use. However, the labels at the back of the product are written in Korean so researching on the internet should be done first before going to the mall.
from Google Image

Its packaging comes in a blue tube that can be squeezed out easily. It contains extracts of tea tree oil and oil absorbent powder that helps clear your skin of blemishes. The smell is lovely and floral. Quite a least thing to expect for BB cream.

It is more watery than creamy so be careful when applying it to your face as it might spilled your shirt or on any fabric because the stain is not easy to remove. The hole is also bigger than the usual BBs I tried.

look closely

Its color is lighter than my skin tone so after applying, I needed to wait a little and to blend on my skin. It doesn’t cover acne or scars, but it evens out the skin. It's a BB cream that has a matte effect rather than shiny. However, sweating doesn't count so a touch up of powder after 2 hours of commuting from home to work is necessary.

Description: “This is for uneven surface of skin. Tea tree oil extract makes skin clean and it covers uneven surface effectively.” Would I recommend it? Yes, especially that it can be tossed in your bag everyday. The coverage is good for everyday use. It's also cheap but has a high SPF.

Review: God's Nectar Nutra Active Replenishing Day Cream

It is my first time to use a day cream, it's unplanned and never came up to my mind that I will. My face is not acne-prone and I have this belief that applying less to face is healthier. However, I have learned by buying a day cream like God's Nectar Nutra Active Repleneshing Day Cream is essential especially for a girl like me who is often exposed to pollution and UV rays because of daily commute.

Applying God's Nectar Day Cream to the face creates a VEIL that stands as a SECOND SKIN to protect the skin from harsh, dehydrating and aging environment.

It makes my skin moisturized because it contains a NATURAL biolipid complex called amisolTrioTM which provides ‘SUPERFATTING’ properties - a protection and perfect moisture balance ergo adhering to the surface of my skin leaving a pleasant, SOFT SILKY FEELING.

It comes in a luxurious tub. Just see for yourself.

From its packaging, I got really excited to use this one. Will I be a goddess-like? Pun.

The cream comes in white. It's thick but not heavy upon application. After washing your face in the morning, dry, and then put this day cream. Leave it for minutes before applying your daily make up for better absorption of the cream in your face. The smell is lovely, smells floral and elegant.

Verdict: Ok. Since it's my first time to use a day cream, I can't totally tell if that's how it's supposed to be. Because it keeps my face moisturized, and my BB cream also makes my face moist, my day ends with an oily face as compared before. On the contrary, my face looks healthy in the morning.

Comparing. So the effect of using this day cream with and without the Manuka Honey Peel has a difference wh. On the right portion of my face, I used beforehand the Manuka. While on the left side, I did not use the Manuka. (pardon my face :p unedited except for the line and texts, light source is equal)

Touching my right face feels matte and less shiny while touching my left face feels a little sticky. (You know when you touch your face and it kinda stops? Yeah, that's what happened on my left face if I touch it). But at the end of the day, without wearing any make up, the appearance and the feeling remains the same.

To sum it up, it only feels awesome in the morning. But anyway, I felt its benefits somehow which makes me to say that my P6,000 for skinvesting is not wasted. Before I end it, this is an organic brand from Australia.

Review: Organi Cleanser & Toner

Sweat, pollution, and wearing makeup are the reasons that our skin gets stressed and dirty every day. So, every girl has to clean and tone their faces to maintain the beauty of their skin.

I have mentioned before that I always skip the toning part because I think it’s not totally important on my regimen. Now that I found this 2-in-1 product, Organi Cleanser & Toner (P5,000+), this will help me not to skip using toner at night without putting another effort. Teehee!
Organi Cleanser & Toner

Organi Cleanser & Toner comes in a plastic bottle with net weight of 190 ml. It has gray cap, gold lettering, and transparent bottle. Its bottle showing the orange liquid adds plush factor of its packaging. While I think that it will look orange when I pour it, it is surprisingly almost clear.

The smell is like cinnamon or banana but not very prominent. The consistency is not runny and it does not bubble when applied on the skin.

Directions: Gently massage into skin of your face, adding a small amount of warm water. Either use fingertips or a soft face cloth. Rinse well with the appropriate Organi Day Cream or Night Cream which I will be posting soon!!

Will I recommend it? Yes!! It leaves my skin soft and supple. It actually makes my black heads disappear. It makes my skin and pores appear finer and smoother. Downside… it’s pricey.

Review: Origani Hydrating Milk Soap

So I was using an ordinary facial wash to cleanse my face not until I found the goat’s milk soap of Origani Hydrating Milk Soap. The guy who gave me this said that this is what he uses on his face because it really moisturizes his skin. He said that it does not upset the pH balance on our face. But to be honest, whatever he said, it’s the smell that made me to try this out.

Origani’s goat’s milk soap is formulated with pre moisturizers. The rectangular soap comes in soft edges. The packaging looks very classy with thick carton, silver letterings and navy blue bottom. Upon opening, the soap looks cute with a goat carved beautifully and the word Origani is also sculpted on the opposite side.

The smell is very pleasant. It smells like a milk but scented in a luxurious way. How I wish I could share its very promising smell.

As I try it out, its texture and effect when soaked in water is the same with ordinary soaps we know. The bubbles are the same and it does not melt easily.

Will I recommend it? Yes! While we think that using soap on our face makes our face really dry, it is surprising that Origani is true to its claim that it hydrates my skin very well. It cleansed my face and very moisturized and soft. However, since this one has no whitening formula, the color of my face and my body gets even. I only use this in the morning because I use Organi Cleanser & Toner at night.

Pardon the close up. See how moist it is.
no foundation or cream used.

Review: Organi Manuka Honey Peel

While I was having my field work in Glorietta Makati, I encountered Manuka Honey Peel in Organi stand now changing their name as Origani. I already noticed that there were sales people who were approaching mall strollers to try their products through demonstration. From the beginning that I saw them, I want to avoid that stand.
Organi Manuka Honey Peel

I asked the concierge of Glorietta if where is the place I am looking for and ended up that I should be passing to those sales people. Oh-oh. So I planned on just ignoring them but what happened next is totally the exact opposite. Maybe it’s because the demo guy asked me what I was using on my face and he stopped walking so I also stopped and talk to him. Or probably, he is a foreigner, not gwapo but with a charming face. Or, he got me when he said that I do visit facial but my blackheads are very visible.

So he demonstrated to me how Manuka Honey Peel works and because the product seems promising, I bought it. TBH, my face is really starting to get into trouble; probably because of stress, pollution, or what I eat, or the products I am using. It’s a good thing that Manuka Honey Peel is organic. It is still better to maintain the skin the natural way. See my troubled face below.

Manuka honey is not the ordinary honey. Manuka is a monofloral honey produced in Australia and New Zealand that came from tea tree. It is an “active” honey because it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. As a matter of fact, it can be used as natural wound dressing because it heals fast and prevent bacterial infections. For skin, it heals acne, repairs and hydrates skin.

Manuka Honey Peel’s box and the packaging look luxurious. Thinking that this costs Php 6,700, maybe I paid half of the price for the packaging. The tub is a transparent crystal-like with pear green color tub (or is that color lime green?).

Opening it, there’s a white hard plastic to avoid spilling the honey to the real cover. There’s also a spatula for sanitary purposes. And there… the Manuka Honey Peel is glistening in orange color with a floral scent similar to Sampaguita or Kalachuchi. I don’t really know.

The texture is pasty but not sticky. Also, Origani claimed that this product is non abrasive, so no worries there if you'll get hurt while exfoliating. I tried it to myself and to my mom so check it out!

Directions:

After cleansing your face, put a blob on your damp face, like dotting it.

Leave it for 10 to 15 seconds and then start massaging. See on the photo if what happens. Those are dead skin and dirt that’s been rubbed away. This peel is advised to use once a week.

Rinse well with warm water and advised to put Organi Day Cream after which I will be posting soon.

Will I recommend it? My mom has pigmentation.

I just don’t know if this will improve her skin or not. I will update if there would be changes to her condition. In my case, I can feel that my skin is clean plus the blackheads are not trapped forever in my nose area. Just wow! I can’t believe I don’t have to spend time going for facials anymore. I’m super loving it despite that the price is really eye dropping.

Review: No. 3 Nature Republic Wood Brow Liner

So, you know that I’ve been using retractable eye brow liner… but I found my former pencil eyebrow liner I was using when I was in college. That was like 7 years ago or more, ha! It’s a Shiseido brow liner that was given to me by my best friend a couple of years ago because her mother got home from Japan.

I totally like the shade of that Shiseido because it makes my brows perfect and not fake-looking (If you know what I mean). Given the fact that Shiseido is pretty not so pocket-friendly for a simple citizen like me (LOLS), I settled to get a same shade from Nature Republic where I also tried there retractable brow liner before. See my blog here.

The SA handed me a No.3 Wood Eye Brow (P155). The retractable brow liner I had before is also No. 3. However, I like the Wood Eye Brow than the retractable. Yes, pencil may make you feel hassle doing all the sharpening but I am more satisfied with the color of the pencil.

The Wood Eye Brow also comes with a spoolie on the other end. The cap is sometimes falling off if they are interchanged with the spoolie’s cap and brow’s cap so be careful.

Would I recommend it? Yes! It’s the shade that I really want to wear and one good thing about Wood Eye Brow l is that if you accidentally fell it, the pencil won’t break comparing to retractable that is very delicate.
