Birthday Wish of a Twenty Four-Year Old

Saving money could be extra challenging for a girl who is fond of hanging out with friends and loves to explore new places and food, like me. Besides, it’s not easy saving up when I am in search for a new hobby that will—fingers crossed—also become my new income-generator. You know, I am starting to believe the saying Confucius shared, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Sometimes, it is difficult to love what you do when you are not passionate about it, right? Exploring things would require me to have money, but I just can’t spend freely now because I am trying to be thrifty.

my dream board
I decided to be careful with my finances as the New Year began by saving at least P4,000 a week. I admit that it was hard because I do not always hit the quota I have set my online business. Yes, I do pressure myself. #kunwariboss. To stop the money from flowing out my wallet, I mostly stayed at home and read Christian books by Joshua Harris (I’m not even Christian!) and John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. I also watched movies that I did not get to watch in theaters and spent time in social networking sites to kill boredom. In addition, I let my friends come over our house, so I can keep myself from going out just to save money. However, there are some instances when I need to go out. This makes spending both tempting and necessary.

Then, it happened. Have you ever had that feeling when the thing you’ve wanted for so long is finally yours? When all the sacrifices you’ve made finally paid off? Now, I am in this state of bliss because one of my dreams came true.

After 45 days of self-induced imprisonment, I finally have my own DSLR camera—a proof of my successful prudence. This baby right here is freaking mine! (Forgive me, I’m just really happy. Haha!) I used to be content with my digital camera which was given to me by my father dear. The camera has been with me for almost five years and it is starting to malfunction. Since then, I started relying on my mobile cam to take photos for blog events and personal gatherings. However, I was starting to get worried that the life span of my smartphone would be shorter if I continue using it too much. It’s a good thing that with the power of faith and dream, the world could truly be a wish-granting factory.
my planner

I am writing this to deliver my gratitude to the people who helped me reach my dream. Even if this is a part of a routine in my Dreambook Project Planner, I’d still do this to say thank you to all of my clients and friends who helped me decide what to choose. Thanks to Kimstore for selling affordable and brand new gadgets. Grazie! Merci! Maraming Salamat!

  1. Aww, I'm so happy for you! I know the feeling of having your dream come true, especially if it's DSLR! Coincidentally, I also got my first DSLR last month that my dad gave me because I still can't afford to buy one for myself. HAHA, my baon wouldn't even be enough for a 'The Fault in our Stars' book, but thanks to my dad, my dream came true! Yey for you for achieving your dream!

    1. we have the same problems.. no matter how much you want to save, but there are your friends tempting you to eat out or shop. it's just a measure of: do you want it? or do you really really really want it? in the process you can master how to spendthrift. :)
