Glucerna

My father who is a diabetic finds it difficult to look for the right milk for him because of the sugar content it may has and that he also has cholesterol and heart problem which might get into trouble if he mindlessly try any of it. When we asked his doctor, she told us that Glucerna is the best for him and she also gave us a discount card!

Glucerna is an adult nutritional drink that has sucromalt which helps to manage blood sugar. The blood sugar of diabetic people may come up and down (the so-called hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia) and when they are not controlled, it can lead to a serious heart problem.

Aside to the idea that Glucerna helps to control blood sugar, it has also heart friendly lipid blend rich in monounsaturated fatty acids and omega-3 fatty acids to support heart health. For my dad who is a diabetic, the recommended serving for him is 1 serving of milk everyday.
Glucerna

To prepare 1 serving, put 200 ml of cold water in a glass and add 5 pressed scoops of powder while stirring until dissolved. What my dad does is he drinks one in the morning with 2 ½ scoop and another 2 ½ scoop on his merienda. Take note though that once the can is opened, it should be consumed up to 3 weeks only.

We bought the 400 g can of Glucerna that priced P900+ (less P950) but since we have discount card, we had P100 off! It’s really helpful. When using the discount card, the maximum limit per month of purchase is up to 6 cans only.

It’s been 2 weeks already since my father has drunk Glucerna and he gained weight! It is because drinking this milk is also equivalent to a meal. This is really good for his health, I concur.

  2. Hi, try Okra to cure your father's diabetes, it works like a charm. But then again he has to change his diet overall or natural remedies such as Okra might not work. It's good that you found a milk best suited for him though. :)

    1. That sounds new to me. We never really tried to dish okra in our house. I'll ask my dad if okra is not a restriction to him :)

  3. A lot of our patients also are drinking this milk. This one's good. But of course, any food supplement as milk is considered a supplemental food also, there are still other factors to control the increase in blood sugar of your dad. This include diet as it is the main factor - low sugar diet but with high fiber. Let's not forget exercise but of moderation depending on the capacity of the patient.

  4. I am a diabetic and I also find it hard to control my sugar level.. so far the only milk that I drink is the sterilized one because i cannot take other milk because I am also acidic..
Aside from my maintenance, I'm also trying different herbal medicine.. Like what Anne V said, Okra is also an effective way to drop the high sugar level so as the mangosteen and Yacoon

  5. The nutritional drink really gets expensive when there's a health condition so it's best to grab all the discounts you can. Hoping your father's health improves further.

  6. This is great for all who have diabetes. While its effect is not expected to be super great as to reduce the level of sugar in the blood, Glucerna helps to control. This milk is better than taking none at all.

  7. This is a great topic for me. My in-laws were all diabetic and they need to know what sustenance they can have in the future.
