Nips Pop Fest 2015 and the Talented Youth of Today

Last September 19, the colorful candy-coated chocolate Nips, had its Nips Pop Fest 2015 at the cinema lobby of TriNoma mall where the program are hosted by VJ Robi Domingo and VJ Ai dela Cruz.

Before the program proper, I was able to roam around and visit some of the booths like face painting booth, free-for-all coloring wall, treat carts, and Slo Mo booth.

The SoFa Design Institute booth, displayed the entries for the Nips T-shirt Design Contest and they gave me a shirt that I wanted to have, but it’s quite unlucky that the gray color is too big for my body frame so I ended up having black. I chose the entry of Leonard Agustin (the one on the lower left) because I like the kids happily looking at the bursting color of Nips!

The winner is:

HaNIPS sa Fans, HaNIPS sa Design, PinakahaNIPS na Fashion Designer: Anissa Gomez

HaNIPS sa Entrepreneur: Leonard Agustin

There’s a music video-making contest, too. The contest, in partnership with local music channel MYX, engaged the creativity of today’s youth to come up with their interpretation of the jingle and turn it into a music video.

A grand prize worth P100,000 was awarded to the PinakaHaNips (best overall music video) video of 24-year-old Kharleigh Macapagal.

“The whole process of brainstorming and producing the video and jingle, it was really like Nips – pure, unadulterated fun with my siblings and cousins who helped me get things done”, said Macapagal.

Meanwhile, a close contender to the PinakaHaNips video was “Let’s Make a Rainbow” from aspiring filmmaker Alvin Cabalhug. His video and jingle focused on highlighting the teeming love and friendship seen when sharing a bag of Nips. Cabalhug received P50,000 for winning the HaNIPs sa Song (best in musical score) and HaNIPS sa lyrics (best in lyrics) special awards.

Itchyworms performed after the announcement of the winners to rock the crowd. Jugs said that it was a first time for their band to wear something colorful! Thanks to Nips, we totally had a colorful day.

I want to say thank you to Kezia Romblon of Stratworks for inviting me to Nips Pop Fest, taking home a box of chocolates containing all these:

  5. What a fun event, I grew up eating Nips. I still know the song haha! But I don't eat them anymore, not even give them to my kids since we are not fans of artificially colored food products. :)
